Downsampling Dependent Upsampling of Images
Tamás Frajka and Kenneth Zeger
Abstract
Downsampling an image results in the loss of image information
that cannot be recovered with upsampling.
We demonstrate that the particular
combination of downsampling and upsampling methods used can significantly impact
the reconstructed image quality,
and then we propose a technique to
identify patterns associated with different downsampling methods in
order to select the appropriate upsampling mechanism.
The technique is low complexity and achieves high accuracy over a wide range of images.
