Currently, I am a Software Development Engineer at Microsoft Inc., in Redmond, WA. My work at Microsoft focuses on windows media processing and right management, media encoder and decoder, and multimedia communications.

I received my Ph.D. and M.S. degrees at Jacobs School Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, University of California at San Diego (UCSD), La Jolla, CA, in 2003 and 2006, respectively. My advisors at UCSD are Prof. Pamela C. Cosman and Prof. Laurence B. Milstein. My Ph.D. research interests include wireless video communications, joint source and channel coding, cross-layer optimizations, digital image/video/multimedia processing, and communication and information theory.

In 2005, I did a Summer Research Intern at Networking & Computing Systems Group (NCSG), Freescale Semiconductor, Inc., Austin, TX. From 2004 to 2006, I was a part-time PHY System Consultant for Entropic Communications, Inc., San Diego, CA. At UCSD, I was also the Lab Administrator of the Information Coding Laboratory.

Prior to coming to the United States, I received my B.S. degree from the Electronic Engineering Department, Tsinghua University, Beijing, P. R. China. I also worked at IBM China Company Limited and SUN Microsystems, Inc., as Internship Research Assistant, both in Beijing, P. R. China.

I am a member of IEEE and a member of Sigma Xi. I am also affiliated with Center for Wireless Communications (CWC), California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (CalIT2), and the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA).
