Quality evaluation for compressed medical images
Since 1990, Dr. Cosman has been involved in quality evaluation for
compressed medical images. The main goal of the projects has been
to evaluate diagnostic quality of compressed images by having
radiologists do diagnostic interpretations of images which have
been compressed at different bit rates. The interpretation
may involve detection, measurement, or management decisions.
Analysis of these results provides information on what
level of compression is statistically equivalent to the original
images.
More information on the current research can be found at the
Digital Mammography Image Quality Project site
at Stanford University.
