ECE 109: Announcements (Winter 2012)

  • 03-20-12: No office hours during finals week. However, please feel free to email the TAs with questions. Depending on their availability, they might be able to meet with you also.

    The final exam will be Thursday, March 22, 2012, 11:30am-2:30pm, Center Hall 113 (same as usual lecture room).


  • 03-07-12: Today's discussion section notes (posted on this site) give a clear derivation of the pdf for the max and min functions of random variables. The max function derivation was started in lecture yesterday and is completed on these notes.


  • 02-20-12: A clarification to Problem 2A of Problem Set 5 has been added to the Homeworks link of this web site.


  • 02-20-12: A histogram of scores (out of 70 total) on the midterm exam is posted here.
    Here are some statistics for the midterm exam:

    mean: 49.4
    standard deviation: 17.1
    median: 51
    maximum: 70
    minimum: 11

    Note: There is no letter grade assigned to the midterm exam. The only letter grade for ECE109 will be the end-of-year course grade.


  • 02-16-12: The solutions to the midterm exam (2 versions) given today are posted here. The exams should be graded by Thursday next week, at which time a histogram of the grades will be posted at a link on this page.


  • 02-08-12: The midterm exam is Thursday February 16 (next week). The exam will cover all material presented in lecture up to and including Tuesday February 14. In particular, the coverage of the exam will include expected values of random variables.
